Current Air Force reservist, former U.S. Marine, one time Dallas firefighter, and current MoveStar staffer Andrew DeLeon bikes 4,300 miles during 13 days’ ride to support the military and first responders
DALLAS, TX, May 23, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ — Movestar, Inc, a Dallas-based moving company owned and operated by off-duty Dallas firefighters, is sponsoring a local “hero” during a cross-country bike relay to help raise awareness about Memorial Day and to honor the service men and women who protect this country.
The Carry the Load Fundraiser started in both the East and West coasts last month before its culmination with the Dallas Memorial March, a two-day celebration that starts at noon on May 27 at Reverchon Park, 3505 Maple Avenue in Dallas.
Movestar is sponsoring Air Force Reservist, Iraq Marine Veteran and former Dallas firefighter Andrew DeLeon, whose journey through the West Coast will take him through places like the vineyards of Napa, the bright lights of Las Vegas and the white sands of New Mexico before ending in Dallas. You can follow his journey on Facebook here.
Founded more than 35 years ago, Movestar is owned and operated by off-duty firefighters who dedicate themselves to public safety on the job and when off-duty provide professional moving services to families and businesses in North Texas.
“As first responders ourselves, we understand the importance of raising money for those of us who committed and were affected by the inherent dangers of that commitment,” said Robert Maturey, president of Movestar. “It’s our pleasure to support this fantastic cause and root for Andrew as he completes his journey.”
The Carry The Load event started as a way to convey the meaning behind Memorial Day, according to the event website, and has now broadened to include other service heroes while encouraging the public to honor them year-round.
The Dallas Memorial March is the event’s flagship event, with celebrations ending at 3 p.m. on Memorial Day.
